Your Fiji Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial: Everything You Need to Know

Your bridal trial is an important opportunity to work with your stylist or makeup artist before your wedding day. It allows you to test your preferred look, discuss your preferences and make any adjustments so you feel confident about your final look.

Let’s run through the key information you need to know about your bridal trial:

• Location

  For our Outrigger, Plantation Island and Nadi brides, trials are usually held at our salon. If your booking is at another location, our team may have arranged for your trial to take place at your accommodation or another agreed location.

  Please check the address listed on your trial booking confirmation carefully and make sure it matches what you have discussed with our team. If you are unsure, please contact us a week before your appointment.

• Timing & flexibility

  Trials are scheduled around our wedding bookings and the availability of our team. As we operate a busy wedding schedule, our bride on the day has priority — just as you will on your wedding day.

  For this reason, you will need to have some flexibility around the date and time of your trial.

  We recommend not booking your trial solely because it needs to coincide with another event, dinner, photoshoot or appointment. While we will always do our best to accommodate your preferred timing, wedding bookings can change and your trial time may need to be adjusted.

  We want to avoid you being disappointed if we need to move your appointment to accommodate a wedding booking.

• Preparation

  To achieve the best results, please arrive prepared as closely as possible to how you will be prepared on your wedding day.

  For makeup trials:

  • Arrive with a clean, moisturised and makeup-free face

  • Avoid heavy skincare or oil immediately before your appointment

  • Bring any products you particularly like or would like your artist to consider

  For hair trials:

  • Please arrive with clean, completely dry hair, preferably blow-waved smooth unless your stylist has advised otherwise

  • Avoid applying oils, serums or leave in conditioner before your appointment

  • If you plan to wear extensions on your wedding day, bring them to your trial

  • Bring your veil, hair accessories, hairpieces or other items you intend to wear, where possible

  Your final wedding-day preparation requirements may differ depending on your chosen style. Our team will provide specific preparation advice where required.

  Please also ensure you have sent us inspo photos before the trial, or have these ready on the day.

• What the session involves

  The purpose of your trial is to practise the look you are considering for your wedding day and give you an opportunity to see how it looks and feels on you.

  If you haven't completely decided on your look, that's absolutely fine. Your trial is a great time to discuss ideas with your stylist or makeup artist and make decisions together.

  Each trial is booked for one hour per service. This allows time to create and assess one chosen look.

  If you would like to try a significantly different hairstyle or makeup look from the first one, a second trial appointment may be required and will be charged separately. We recommend discussing this with our team before your appointment if you are considering multiple options.

• Feedback

  Your trial is the time to speak openly with your stylist or makeup artist about what you like and what you would like changed. Please work with them until you feel happy and comfortable with your look.

  We encourage you to look at your makeup and hair in different lighting. This can help you decide whether any small adjustments are needed for the day itself.

  In the small number of cases where a bride doesn't feel completely happy with the result of her trial, it is most often because the chosen look doesn't feel quite right for her. Sometimes a style that looks beautiful in an inspiration photo simply doesn't feel like you once you see it on yourself. This is exactly why we recommend having a trial — it gives you the opportunity to make changes and explore a different look before your wedding day.

  On rare occasions, you may feel that the makeup artist or stylist isn't quite the right fit for you. If this happens, please let us know. Where appropriate, we're happy to arrange a second trial with another member of our team, so you have the opportunity to find the right fit before your wedding day.

  The most important thing is that you feel confident in your wedding-day look — and your trial is the perfect time to make sure you do.
